Personas

Documentation for creating and managing buyer personas.

Buyer personas represent the individual decision-makers within your target companies. While ICPs define which companies to target, personas define which people to reach within those companies.

  • Company Context: Company size, industry, growth stage where they work

  • Signals: LinkedIn keywords, education, certifications that identify them

Fields That Affect Content Generation

These influence the messaging AI creates:

  • Challenges: Specific problems they face daily

  • Desired Outcomes: What success looks like for them

How AI Uses Personas

Automatic Matching

  • AI analyzes every new contact

  • Compares against all active personas for the selected seller profile.

  • Assigns best match with confidence score

  • Provides reasoning for the match

  • All persona fields are considered for matching, including the fields that you fill in when connecting the seller profile.

Content Generation

  • AI references persona challenges and goals

  • Adjusts tone based on seniority level

  • Personalizes value props to their outcomes

  • Uses appropriate technical depth

Reporting Integration

  • Several reports can be filtered by persona

  • Track performance metrics by persona type

  • Identify which personas convert best

  • Optimize targeting based on results

Best Practices

  1. Be Specific: "VP Sales at 50-500 person SaaS" not "Sales Leader"

  2. Use Real Data: Base on actual customer analysis, not assumptions

  3. Start with 3-5: Don't over-segment initially

  4. Link Everything: Connect to ICPs and Seller Profiles

  5. Review Quarterly: Update based on performance data

  6. Focus on Differences: Each persona should require unique messaging

Troubleshooting

Poor Match Quality

  • Issue: Contacts matching wrong personas

  • Solution: Make role descriptions more specific, add better signals

  • Example: Instead of "Marketing leader", use "VP Marketing, 5+ years, B2B SaaS, team of 10+"

Inconsistent Messaging

  • Issue: AI content doesn't match persona needs

  • Solution: Ensure clear challenges and outcomes are defined, add examples.

  • Check: Verify correct Seller Profile connections
