Sequence Lifecycle and Testing

Understand how templates transform into personalized sequences and reach your prospects.

Understanding the sequence lifecycle helps you create better templates, test effectively, and ensure quality before launch. This guide walks through every stage from template creation to prospect delivery in your campaigns.

Understanding the Lifecycle

The Journey from Template to Delivered Message

1. Create Template → 2. Assign to Campaign → 3. Add Contacts
→ 4. AI Processing → 5. Review & Edit → 6. Send Messages → 7. Track Results

Each step is automatic once configured, but understanding the flow helps you manage sequences effectively.

Template Testing

Pre-Template Checklist ✅

Content Review

Test Contacts

  • From the ‘Test Sequence’ tab, select 3-4 contacts

  • Include diverse industries/roles. To help you select diverse contacts, you can filter by Persona and ICP, or search for specific contacts.

  • Test with missing data

  • Verify edge cases work

NB: Test contacts will only be available to you if you already have some contacts in campaigns.

The first time you run a test contact, it will typically take a little longer to run the test. Once you’ve run them once, it will be much faster (30 seconds or less) in the future.

Contacts that will run fast tests have a Status marked by a green tick, whilst those that will take longer show a red clock.

There are no limits on how many tests or frequently you’d like to run them (they don’t use your credits), so it’s best practice to run tests here versus regenerating content in your Campaigns, which will use credits.

To see why the content is being generated, it's useful to view the contact by clicking the ‘Contact Details’ button; and also selecting the burger menu item next to it, which details the AI reasoning behind why the created the messages.
